Redness, itching, really dry and flaky skin, acne, some or all of these constantly or at the slightest change of anything...?

If any of this sounds familiar then you're probably like my nan or sister, suffering from sensitive skin which tends to run in families and oh joy(!) certainly does in mine!
My nan suffers from psoriasis which is a particularly moody type of dry skin condition which used to get so bad that her skin would peel at night and would need lots of changes of wound dressings - this only started about ten years ago increasing from dry skin to a really serious and unpredictable chronic irritation.
My little sister Kimberley suffers from eczema which she was born with, it can can get really bad during cold weather periods on the backs of her knees and other creases - which is typical of sufferers of atopic eczema... And these are just two examples. The causes of psoriasis are disputed and there are several types of eczema, if it's chronic atopic ezema like my sister's then it usually starts in infancy or toddler years and then gets better by the time one becomes a teenager, but general issues with dry skin and irritations often still remain throughout life.
Of course, sensitive skin isn't just about extra dry itchy conditions but oily clogged skin also which acne sufferers know all about!
Studies show and health experts agree that problem skins and allergies have been on the rise in the last 30 years or so and that while genetics play a role it's our modern lifestyles and exposure to hidden chemicals in foods, cleaning materials and skin products that are major contributing factors also.

I know from the past daily experience in my own family that important choices in ingredients we eat, put on our skin and wear in our clothing really can make an incredible difference. But the trial and error until finding what works, without horrible side-effects, or without stopping being effective can be so frustrating.
This is why it was so important for me to not only develop a range of products that avoid nasty chemicals and toxins that can affect the skin and it's ability to protect the body, but within my already gentle product range to also develop an extra gentle range!
So for those of you that absolutely don't want anything at all but moisture you can feel, that lasts, that doesn't sting or feel sticky or icky ...and has no smell at all not even essential oils (although the right ones are really healing) you'll love the My sunnysunflower products.
And those that want lovely smelling products that are natural (yep you've guessed it using really soothing gentle and antiinflammatory essential oils - ;no tricky perfumes or artificial fragrances)  (ie not using any man made artificial oils or emollients) that heal and protect and help the body to acheive a more balanced state that is less likely to break outs... you'll love my orangehintmint, chamomile and bamboo products.

These all feel just as luxurious as mainstream brands that may have some of the triggers you may really want to avoid but these are full of superloving, hydrating natural ingredients that nature has proven to really make a difference. Fats and oils like Coconut oil, Sheabutter and Sunflower oil that are rich in linoleic acid, oleic acid and Vitamine E all of which improve skin hydration, reduce inflammation, speed up wound healing and improve skin elasticity while acting emollient to protect skin and keep it hydrated .
Jojoba in these products regulates oil production so it is perfect for both dry skin and oil skin conditions because it balances things out to help get thing back to normal
Hydrating ingredients like bamboo, coconut oil and moringa do wonders for improving moisture balance while suporting the production of healthier skin cells that can manage triggers and essential oils such as lemon, peppermint and orange are excellent for flushing out bacteria that can get stuck in pores which can reduce weepy itchy skin from becoming infected... and they smell lovely and refreshing...
I've seem the amazing difference in my families and friends with sensitive skin, we've all been the guineapigs (because there's simply no excuse for hurting any animals!) while I was developing the range which is why I am so delighted to be able to share these with you too.
Read on below for all the loving ingredients and their benefits that you'll find throughout all my products but are specifically blended in the sensitive ranges...
I hope you experience the same relief and pleasure from this loving range as we have!Love Jas

Sunflower Oil

A genuine skin-loving goodie for the needs of every skin type and particularly kind to skin that is prone to acne or excesssive dryness or sensitivity. We normally think of this oil for cooking but actually sunflower oil extracted from the seeds of the flower provides cleansing, exfoliating, and softening properties while moisturizing and nourishing it.
It is non-comedogenic (does not clog the pores - allowing skin to breathe) it protects and softens while purifying with antibacterial care and is a great oil for defending against acne-causing bacteria. The fatty acids regulate oil production which is another reason it is such a powerful support in the treatment of acne but also a great oil for dry itchy conditions.
As a skin-food it is rich in vitamins A, C, and D, that act as antioxidants which fight off dangerous elements called free radicals that can attack the health of our cell-membranes and skin structure - and these vitamins support the production processes that keep skin optimally able to regenerate new skin cells .

Shea Butter

Shea butter extract is a highly moisturising fat obtained from the nut of the African shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa).
Used traditionally for centuries as a natural emollient due to its really nourishing benefits, melting naturally at body temperature, absorbing rapidly into the skin and not clogging pores in the way that other butters can. It is exceptionally moisturising and skin smoothing because of it's high fatty acid percentages of oleic acid (40–60%), stearic acid (20–50%), linoleic acid (3–11%), palmitic acid (2–9%), linolenic acid (<1%) and arachidic acid (<1%) all making this skin-loving wonder a nutrient rich indulgence for the skin cells while also combatting irritations and rashes that can arise from moisture loss.

This non-greasy butter is the perfect treat for dry skin to seal in moisture naturally and provide lasting hydration.

Moringa Drumstick

Derived from 'murungai', the Tamil word for drumstick, Moringa is commonly referred to as the drumstick tree. It contains 13 species from tropical and subtropical climates that range in size from tiny herbs to massive trees.
With a long history in indigenous cultures the tree is so healthy that almost every part of it has healing properties and it is used traditionally for cooking and healing .
In skincare the plants' potent antibacterial, anti-fungal and antimicrobial qualities provide essential defense against the growth of disease-causing microbes while the oil’s unique fatty acid composition supports the skin surface in helping to balance the way skin absorbs nutrients.

A skin superfood, the bamboo plant offers antioxidant care with additional antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic goodness making it a powerbotanical for rejuvenation and cell growth.
One of the richest natural sources of silica in the planet, Bamboo contains approxamtely 70% of this essential mineral which is an instrumental trigger for collagen production deep within the cells that firms skin and gives it resilience, structure and youthful radiance.
Bamboo also naturally regulates the skin balance by holding moisture on the surface of the skin and helping to provide lasting hydration. The extracts you'll find in my range are such an excellent way to peel the skin without causing damage to it which can happen easily enough when your skin is prone to irritation.

Skin softening and smoothing plant extract allantoin is so healing as it works in three important ways.
It is a power-house for moisture-retainin, it acts as a humectant which means it draws moisture into the skin and locks it into the layers to maintain optimal levels of hydration in the skin cells.
Allantoin is also a natural and gentle keratolytic which sheds away the Keratin top layer of dead skin cells to release softer, new skin and benefit the skins natural cell turnover rate.
As an an anti-inflammatory it helps to reduce irritation and stress in the skin to support healing. It would already be an incredible ingredient with just one of these abilities let alone all of these three - this is why I love to include this lovely plant extract in my skincare and why you'll find it in a lot of the extra sensitive products.

JOJOBA - mimics our natural body oil

this amazing oil is the closest thing in nature to the actual oil our bodies produce naturally 'sebum' and is actually really a wax rather than an oil coming from a plant native to the southern U.S and Mexico,.
It plays a key role in protecting the skin, providing moisture control, and soothing the skin and hair.
It helps to soothe and moisturise and is great for burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, acne psoriasis and wrinkles.this oil has been used to treat acne, psoriasis, sunburn and chapped skin for generations. It’s also used to reduce balding because it encourages hair regrowth, soothes the skin and unclogs hair follicles too so it is great from top to toe which is helpful since we know sensitive skin will happily affect any area of the body!

Bitter Orange

Expressed from the fruit of the bitter orange tree this essential oil is a potent anti-inflammatory with additional powerful antibacterial benefits. It has been shown to have a beneficial effect on the body's metabolic function, has the ability to freshen odour and is uplifting with a positive effect on moods.
Combined with the additional citrussy support of lemon essential oil it aids in fading blemish discolouration and increasing skin luminosity. It is also a potent antioxidant, skin conditioner and provides a lovely uplifting scent.
